Assisted Procrastination

I’ll apologize now. Don’t worry, it’ll never happen again. The apology, that is. And I’ll explain why.

This is my first foray into writing a blog, but I’ve read more than I care to count. It never fails — sooner or later, there’s always a post apologizing for having not written in a while. This is typically a relatively short post, only long enough to tease readers with the hope of an explanation, some brilliant insight or stroke of genius to justify the absence. Instead, it’s usually a pity post designed to reassure the audience that the poster knows they exist. Under the surface, it says the poster has things more important than the audience who obviously needs to be reminded of this fact. Arrogant – isn’t it?

I’m not arrogant. I’m sarcastic. And blunt. And because I think your time is valuable, I won’t monopolize it by apologizing for not giving you something to read. Instead, I know that all of you loyal readers will have no trouble finding someone else to assist you in your procrastination. And for that, I apologize.
